My path towards becoming an artist began many years ago, but can be described as non-traditional. From early childhood through my early twenties, I embraced art classes and worked with multiple media, including graphite pencils, pen and ink, oil pastels and acrylic paint. My pursuit of art was shared with other interests in college while I attended business school and then law school. After graduation, I practiced as a business litigation associate at an international law firm. There is some creativity involved in trying a lawsuit, but on the whole, I missed the creative outlet that painting provides. I've now retired from the practice of law and spend most days working multiple paint brushes in my home studio in Houston, Texas.
I love capturing memorable and candid moments in portraiture, but also enjoy the creativity of abstract pieces. Portraiture draws upon my left-brain precision, while abstract pieces allow me to escape boundaries. A review of my portfolio reveals a wide range of artistic styles. This makes painting especially fun for me. Each day in the studio is different. The play and contrast of color drive all of my pieces, and most all of my artwork contains abundant light and vibrant colors, even if it is just a pop of color against a neutral background.
I am represented by Serena & Lily, Well and Wonder Collective in Louisville, Kentucky, Robin and Robbins Fine Art Consultants in Raleigh and Charlotte, North Carolina and Boco Art in Greenville, South Carolina. I also work on commission to create custom artwork. Contact me via the website if you are interested in commissioning a piece. I look forward to working with you to create the perfect piece to highlight your style and decor.
